The furious shooting pace continues into the afternoon. We have completed five out of the twelve scenes scheduled for today, including a daring escape sequence in which Funke Akindele (as Ma’ami) and Ayomide Abatti (as Young Kashimawo) scale a high cement wall.
While filming the sixth scene of the day inside the danfo, Kelani faced a multi-pronged challenge. The vehicle’s tight confines were too small for the unwieldy RED Camcorder to access and Kelani didn’t want to waste precious time dismantling the complicated machinery. In addition, the second unit camera (which would have been the perfect size for the interior) had yet to arrive from the US.
Undeterred, Kelani borrowed a Canon 7D Camera from a colleague in Lagos and ordered it to be mounted against the danfo’s windshield to capture the interior action. He then trailed the danfo in a second van to film the exterior with the RED Camcorder. Hopefully, this innovative problem-solving will carry the cast and crew until we finish today’s demanding production schedule.
